Trip Information
Walk-on (Shared Expense) Trips
Most of our walk-on (shared expense) trips depart at 8:00 a.m. Occasionally we do have afternoon trips.
On our 4-hour trip you can expect about 1 hour of ride time to reach the fishing grounds (varies daily), approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours of fishing, and then the ride home.
On our 6-hour trip you can expect about 1 ½ to 2 hours of ride time to reach the fishing grounds (varies daily), approximately 2 hours of fishing, and then the ride home.
What to expect and why?
On a 4-hour or 6-hour trip, expect the captain to change fishing locations a few times. There are only so many fish at each location and several locations being fished will generally result in the best catch of fish for our anglers. We keep each of our anglers’ fish separated and do not allow fish to be stored in personal coolers. We fish 30 lb to 50 lb tackle, and we have rod and reels that are suitable for our smaller anglers to use available.
Many families ask what age a child needs to be to go on a fishing trip. Our daughter started out at one year of age and continues to go on a regular basis.
We have found that children under 10 years of age will generally need a parent or someone to help them fish.
Will we catch fish?
Yes, we catch fish daily. Generally everyone on the boat will catch fish. On the 4-hour trip, depending on the season, it is more difficult to catch fish that you can keep and take home. On the 6-hour trip almost everyone catches a nice “mess” of fish to take home and enjoy. Angler’s skills and participation vary widely, and there are no guarantees in the fishing business, but we put forth a 100% effort to ensure a successful outing for your family or group. Please see our picture page. All fish that are on stringers came from our walk-on trips.
Inshore Fishing Trips
Our inshore fishing trips are in the back bays and near shore waters. Depending on the time of year and what we are trying to catch, we may be trolling for redfish outside of Perdido Pass or fishing for pompano around the rocks or under the Perdido Pass Bridge.
Inshore fishing changes daily based on many factors. Our target species is equally as varied. Some of the fish we try to catch are spotted sea trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, pompano, Spanish mackerel, and even red snapper when the season is open, and there are always surprises that show up to keep us on our toes.
